History of Our Church

The church was first organized on October 11, 1870 as a Congregational Church.  Worship was held, for some time, in what was then the United Presbyterian Church.  The first pastor was Rev. C. H. Eaton.

On October 15, 1912, by a vote of the congregation, the name was changed from First Congregational Picture of the New Windsor Presbyterian ChurchChurch of New Windsor to the People's Church.  On October 19, 1919, at the request of the members of the People's Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church, a special meeting of the Presbytery of Rock River was called.  The present church was organized - First Presbyterian Church of New Windsor. A congregational meeting was held on March 1, 1920 and Rev. Charles E. Hoff was called to serve as pastor of the newly formed church.

As our congregation grew, so did the church.  In 1930 the east wing of the main sanctuary was added.  In 1959 the Christian Education Building was added.  This part of the building serves as the location for our Sunday School and as space for wedding receptions, anniversaries and other church activities. In 1983, the Fellowship Hall was built to connect the Christian Education Building to the main sanctuary.
